Forget-Me-Not

Life and Wellness Coaching

I help women remember themselves.

FORGET-ME-NOT COACHING:

Beginnings

My first career after college was in environmental advocacy and grassroots organizing. I had an amazing mentor who truly helped me become the person I am today: Sally. She was from Alaska, where the state flower is the forget-me-not. After Sally died, far too young of ovarian cancer, I remembered her every time I saw a forget-me-not. Eventually, each time I saw one, I heard Sally’s voice, as I had so often when she was alive, lovingly admonishing me not to forget myself, not to give so much to others that I had nothing left for me.

I can help you put yourself back into the equation of your life. I have seen so many women go all out for their families, friends, employers, and causes. I have seen so many women exhausted and depleted from all their giving and yearning for a different approach. During my training as a coach, I realized that what I really wanted to do was support women to shine their amazing nurturing powers onto themselves. I am here to help you remember yourself and hear your own voice so that you can finally lavish some attention on yourself and free yourself to unleash your unique gifts into the world with joy.

Whether you are seeking a new direction or purpose, wanting to feel better in your body, facing a health challenge, or stuck and procrastinating on a path you can clearly see, I would love to help you empower yourself to feel your best and live the life you desire. There is room in your life for you! I am here to support you!

ABOUT ME

I live in California's San Francisco Bay Area with my husband. We have two grown sons. When I am not working, I am most often outside. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, being in nature, hiking, camping, birding, practicing yoga, gardening, dancing, swimming, canoeing, cooking, and reading.

How did I choose this path to coaching? Over the years, I learned – sometimes the very hard way! – the cost of making myself invisible. I began to understand that relationships were far more nourishing when they were reciprocal and that to experience true intimacy, I needed to speak and receive as well as listen and give.

Along the way, I have grown through my experiences as a mom and hospice volunteer. As I helped my children grow and navigate their lives and later supported those preparing to die, I thought a lot about how I wanted to spend the rest of my life and what a life well lived might mean to others.

Through a dear friend, I encountered Emotional Brain Training and discovered not only remarkably simple, quick, and effective neuroscience-based tools to support others but also a lot of personal healing. I worked through the EBT program and became a certified EBT coach in 2017. I joined the EBT staff in 2018 as a coach and manager of professional certification.

In 2021 I enrolled in two coaching programs through the Life Purpose Institute to complement and expand on my EBT coaching skills. All this learning has augmented my natural compassion and curiosity so that I can now help others get unstuck, prioritize their own goals and dreams appropriately, and live healthy, effective, joyful lives. I find great joy in supporting others in this way.

Frannie helped me create and center my own goals and work towards them with exactly the gentle, grounding, and objective-oriented approach I needed. Today I completed my first post-pandemic triathlon! Thanks, Frannie!” ~ Sandra

“Frannie is a caring, intuitive, natural coach. She has been able to understand my struggles and help me find solutions by having me look deeper at my choices. Her positive energy and knowledge as a coach have made a wonderful and positive impact on my day-to-day stressors. Through her great questions and compassion, I was able to see much of what was causing me stress and overwhelm was of my own doing. I am so grateful to have Frannie as a coach and cheerleader. I would highly recommend Frannie if you are looking for a coach who is honest, caring, and passionate about helping you with your goals.” ~ Donna

I had been stalled for over a year on a project that was very important to me, but that I also had deep ambivalence about. Frannie helped me tap into my values and regain access to why it was worth delving into the hard work and steep learning curve in front of me. I just received the news that I passed this difficult certification, and I could not be happier or more proud. Working with Frannie was truly a gift, and made my life feel richer and more meaningful. I would highly recommend her to anyone who wants to tackle a challenge, or get more out of life.” ~ Julie

Emotional Brain Training Coaching

Does change feel impossible? Advances in neuroscience have helped us understand why change can be so very hard. Even if you know what you want to do differently and feel extremely motivated to make it happen, your unconscious, emotional brain can get in the way. Dr. Laurel Mellin at the University of California, San Francisco developed the Emotional Brain Training (EBT) method to help people "rewire" their brain circuitry so that they can live healthier, happier, more effective lives. If you choose, we can incorporate EBT tools into our work together. EBT can help you change your brain for profound, sustainable change in health, well-being, and purpose. Instead of seeing stressful emotions or situations as negative, you can process them to get rapidly back to optimal functioning, creating a habit of resilience as you practice these tools.

COACHING AREAS INCLUDE:

· Stress reduction

· Weight loss, stress eating, body pride

· Habit change

· Joy and resilience enhancement

In addition to coaching for EBT, I am their manager of professional certification and editor. Here's more about EBT and my personal EBT journey.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does coaching work?

We’ll start by assessing where you are and where you want to be. Then I will support you in setting goals to bridge that gap. After that, we will partner to move you toward achieving those goals. Each session, you will be in charge, so that you can always work on whatever is most pressing for you.

How does coaching differ from therapy?

Coaching starts with where you are now and creates plans of action for achieving specific, future goals. The focus is on bridging the gap between where you are now and where you want to be, using action steps, accountability, and follow-through. Therapy addresses emotional and psychological pain and dysfunction that usually is rooted in the past.

How can I benefit from coaching?

If you can imagine living your life differently or achieving something that you desire, but you cannot seem to get there on your own, coaching can help you. Coaching will help you explore and clarify your desires and make actionable steps toward them, as you increase effectiveness, satisfaction, confidence, and joy.

How long does coaching take?

The length of the coaching engagement will vary depending on the goals you set and your progress toward them. Usually, coaching works best in at least 90-day increments. I offer three-month, six-month, and one-year packages. If you have a project or topic you want to work on more quickly, we will arrange for fewer sessions. We evaluate your progress along the way, and it will always be your decision how long to continue with coaching.

How often do we meet and how long are the coaching sessions?

Typically, my coaching engagements start with a 90-minute discovery session. Going forward, we’ll have an average of three 60-minute sessions per month. However, if you want more or less support, we will arrange our sessions to suit your needs.

Where do we meet?

Sessions are by phone or video call.

Can I get support between sessions?

All my packages include email support between sessions.
